Offensive Tackle

UW This Season: Adam Goldberg should be a leading All-America candidate in 2002. As a junior in 2001, he was named First Team All-Mountain West Conference by MWC Coaches. Goldberg is entering his fourth year as a starter for the Cowboys. For the second consecutive season, he will be the starter at left tackle. Goldberg enters his senior season bigger (330 pounds) and stronger than ever. He has started all 32 career games he has played in at UW. The only game he missed during his career was due to mononucleosis in the 2001 season opener against Furman. An outstanding leader, he and fellow senior offensive lineman Rob Kellerman will anchor an offensive line that returns four of five starters. 2001: One of the premier offensive linemen in the Mountain West Conference in 2001. He earned First Team All-Conference honors as a junior in voting by MWC head football coaches. Goldberg became only the third junior in University of Wyoming football history to be elected a team captain when he was voted a captain by his teammates in the spring of 2001. He joined Galand Thaxton (1986) and Marques Brigham (1997) as the only other juniors to be voted team captain. (Current Cowboy juniors Casey Bramlet and Ryan McGuffey have since joined the elite group.) Goldberg was shifted from right tackle to left tackle in 2001 spring drills. 2000: Goldberg started all 11 games at right tackle for the Cowboys, earning Second Team All-MWC honors. He switched to right tackle after starting his entire freshman season at left tackle for the Pokes. 1999: Started all 11 games at left tackle during his redshirt freshman season. His first career start came against defending national champion Tennessee in Knoxville in the first game of the 1999 season. Had one of his best games against San Diego State in the season finale, recording 12 knockdown blocks. 1998: Was a redshirt. High School: A Second Team All-State and All-Metro selection his senior season. Played both offensive and defensive line. A starter for two and one half seasons at Edina High School. His senior season, he recorded 95 tackles -- 19 solos and 76 assists. Had 10 tackles for a loss and three fumble recoveries. His team won its conference title his junior season with a 9-2 record, and posted a 7-4 record his senior year. Both years they advanced to the Sectional Semifinals. Goldberg's high school coach was Todd Olson. Other schools that recruited him included Air Force, Dartmouth, Iowa and New Mexico. Personal: Born Aug. 12, 1980, his parents are Mary and Joe Goldberg. Has one older brother, Jason. Goldberg is a finance major.
