UW This Season: Enrolling for the spring semester, Bettencourt went through 2014 spring drills with the Cowboys at the guard spot. He sits third on the depth chart at the right guard position entering fall camp.

High School: Bettencourt enrolled at UW for the 2014 spring semester, and will go through spring football with the Cowboys. Bettencourt earned All-Southern Idaho Conference honors as both a junior and senior at Meridian High School in Meridian, Idaho. Meridian High plays at the Class 5A level, which is the largest classification in the state of Idaho. He also earned Academic All-Conference honors in both 2012 and 2013, and achieved Honor Roll status his sophomore through senior years of high school. He was a four-time winner of his team's "Iron Man Award", indicative of the top performer in the weight room each year. Bettencourt was voted a team captain his sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

He played for head coach Kip Crofts at Meridian High. Among other schools that were recruiting him were: Boise State, Idaho and Utah State.
