Contribution Opportunities Established to Help Defray Costs Associated With Medical Treatment for Former Wyoming Cowboy Weston Johnson
Feb. 1, 2013
LARAMIE, Wyo. - An outpouring of support has occurred over the past several days for current Sheridan High School football coach and former Wyoming Cowboy football player Weston Johnson. Johnson was recently diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, a form of cancer. As the news of Johnson's diagnosis spread, friends and family have established several opportunities for people to contribute funds to help defray costs associated with Johnson's medical treatment.
A native of Wray, Colo., Johnson moved to Sheridan, Wyo., this past year where he is currently a coach for the Sheridan High Football Team. From 2005 to 2009, Johnson attended the University of Wyoming where he was a member of the Wyoming Cowboy Football team. He received his bachelor's degree in marketing from UW, and was named the Outstanding Senior in Marketing by the UW College of Business. Johnson was a captain of Wyoming's 2009 New Mexico Bowl Championship team his senior season. He signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons in the spring of 2010 and served as a graduate assistant football coach at UW in 2011.
