LARAMIE, Wyo. - For the third consecutive year, the University of Wyoming Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be leading the "Wyoming in Haiti" trip to conduct youth sport camps and provide other assistance to the people of Haiti.

This year a group of 16 individuals will be traveling to Port-au-Prince, Haiti May 10-17. Among that group of 16 individuals will be current Wyoming football student-athletes Nehemie Kankolongo, Nathan Leddige, Justin Martin and Chase Roullier, as well as former Cowboy football players Josh Teeter (2012-2013), Brian Johnson (1997-2001), and Aaron Frude (1997-2001). Holly Heussner of the Cowgirl swimming and diving team and Tanner Harms of the Cowboy wrestling team will also be making this year's trip. Frude is the FCA Representative for Southeast Wyoming and the University of Wyoming and is coordinating the trip. "The primary purpose for FCA sponsoring the `Wyoming in Haiti' trip is to serve the Haitian people," said Frude. "But it is also an opportunity for members of our group to grow, learn and step out of their comfort zone."

The Cowboys and Cowgirls will be conducting sports camps throughout the week of May 10-17 in Haiti, and will be assisting the local church of Lyonel Narcisse, the father of former Cowboy football player Ruben Narcisse, who was killed in a car accident in the fall of 2010.

The Southeast Wyoming FCA Chapter members will be aiding Lyonel Narcisse and the "Love A Child" ministry in providing a sports experience for the children in Haiti in honor of Reuben, who had a special place in his heart for the children of Haiti. The "Love A Child" ministry is a non-profit Christian Humanitarian Organization that serves the needs of children in Haiti through their orphanage, food and medical distribution center and sustainability programs.

In 2013, the Wyoming group was responsible for clearing rocks from soccer fields to help provide a safe environment for the children at "Love A Child" and surrounding villages who travel to the facility to play soccer.

Each team member of this year's trip was responsible for raising $1,600 to make the trip possible. Anyone interested in being a part of helping support this year's trip can make donations out to the Rube Foundation and send it to Southeast WY Fellowship of Christian Athletes, P.O. Box 2256, Laramie, WY 82073. All of the funds raised go directly toward the trip. Individuals donating will get a tax deductible receipt as the Rube Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization.
