MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Robert Herron Mountain West Player of the Week
Wyoming junior wide receiver Robert Herron was named the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Mountain West Player of the Week, announced Thursday by the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas.
Herron caught five passes for a career-high 173 yards and tied a personal high with two touchdown receptions, including an 82-yarder, at Texas in the season opener.
The MAACO Bowl Las Vegas is now in its second season of conducting weekly Facebook player-of-the-week polls, driven by fan votes, recognizing exemplary on-field play within the two Bowl affiliated conferences, the Pac-12 and Mountain West.
Johnathan Franklin, a senior running back for UCLA, was named the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas Pac-12 Player of the Week. Franklin rushed for 214 yards on 15 carries and tied his career high with three touchdowns, including two longer than 70 yards, in the Bruins' season-opening 49-24 victory at Rice.
Both winners attended Dorsey High School in Los Angeles.
Each week, players from both the Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences will be selected for nomination and then posted for voting. All college football fans are welcome to cast their vote starting on Monday each week for Player of the Week by clicking here.
