Athlete of the Week

Luke Ruff

This week's game against San Diego State is the last game of the season and the last of your Wyoming career. What is your personal outlook for this game?

It's amazing how fast your college football career flies by, but nothing makes me happier than to be out there with the amazing people I have met here at Wyoming. In a word, my outlook is excitement.

What do you like most about being from Castle Rock, Colo.?

The people, everyone is friendly, and the view/aesthetics of the community. Castle Rock is a community full of people that are proud of their city.

As a twin, how did you like growing up with your sister, Lenise?

It was great - I always have some interesting conversations when people figure out that I am a twin.

What position did your brother Josh play on the football team at Colorado School of Mines? What position does your younger brother, Adam, currently play at CSM? What was it like growing up playing ball with them?

Joshua graduated in May and works for an engineering firm in the Denver Tech Center. He played middle linebacker at the School of Mines. My litter brother, Adam, now plays safety there. I always remember playing football with Josh and Adam where we would just beat up Adam. Also, we always had a game with my dad called "1 Hop" which is a punting/catching game.

You've earned multiple academic honors during your time as a Cowboy. What are your career plans with a civil engineering degree?

Hopefully continue on with school; I would like to get a master's degree and possibly a Ph.D. After more school, I would like to start working and in the future hopefully run my own company.

What do you like most about playing the safety position?
You get to not only use speed to cover great athletes, but you also get to run full steam ahead toward a running back and try to create large collisions.

Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals before taking the field?

I always listen to a song called Focus Shall Not Fail. Also, I never wear thick long-sleeved Under Armour because every time I have previously we lost.

What is your favorite movie?

Gladiator, Braveheart, Up, Despicable Me, there are too many to list.

What was your favorite family vacation growing up?

Hawaii

What is something about you people might not know?

I used to play the drums in a heavy metal band. I still play the drums, just not as consistently.
