LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Eddie Robinson FCS Coach of the Year Award presented by The Sports Network was announced on Tuesday, and new University of Wyoming head football coach Craig Bohl was presented the award for the second consecutive year. Bohl becomes the first coach to win the Eddie Robinson FCS Coach of the Year honor in consecutive seasons in the 27-year history of the award. Only one other coach in FCS history, Mickey Matthews of James Madison, won the award more than once. Matthews was named the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2008.

Bohl received 42 first-place votes and a total of 418 points in the national voting conducted by FCS media relations directors, broadcasters and writers. Dino Babers, head coach at Eastern Illinois, placed second in the voting with 370 points.

Bohl's No. 1 ranked North Dakota State Bison have advanced to the Semifinals of the 2013 FCS Playoffs. Last week, the Bison defeated Coastal Carolina by a score of 48-14 in Fargo, N.D., in the FCS Quarterfinal Round. NDSU will host New Hampshire on Friday, Dec. 20 in the FCS Semifinals. That game is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m., Mountain Time and will be televised live on ESPN2.

Bohl is in his 11th season as head coach of the NDSU Bison. He has built a 102-32 (76.1 percent) record as head coach at North Dakota State. He has guided the Bison to the FCS Quarterfinals each of the last four seasons, winning the last two FCS national titles in 2011 and 2012 and posting a 12-1 record in the FCS Playoffs. His last three teams have posted records of 14-1 (2011), 14-1 (2012) and are currently 13-0 in 2013 as they seek their third consecutive national title.

Only one other program in FCS history has won three consecutive national titles. That was Appalachian State in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Prior to receiving this year's The Sports Network Eddie Robinson FCS National Coach of the Year honor, Bohl received both the Eddie Robinson award and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) FCS National Coach of the Year Award in 2012. His other National Coach of the Year honor came in 2006, when he was recognized by the Football Gazette as the FCS National Coach of the Year and the Northwest Region Coach of the Year.
