Cowboy Golf Continues Play in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. -
The University of Wyoming men’s golf team sits in 14th place after two rounds at the Omni Tucson National Invitational Tournament at the Catalina Course. The Cowboys carded a 314 (+26) team score on Saturday. Wyoming has a score of 618 (+42) with the final round set to be played Sunday.
“Every spring you have to get your work in,” Wyoming head coach Joe Jensen said. “Obviously we’re doing it at a premier tournament with highly ranked teams. There is still plenty of good golf that we are playing. We just have a few little things to work on.”
Senior Brent Baylon led the Pokes in round two with a four-over par, 76. He is tied for 65th overall at seven-over par, 151 after the first two rounds. Also carding a 76 (+4) on Saturday was Kamrin Allen, placing him tied for 75th. Allen has a score of 156 (+12) through two rounds. Senior Eddie Stewart is also tied for 75th with a 156 (+12) after a second-day score of 82 (+10).
Junior Cameron Lindell is currently tied for 79th with a two-round score of 159 (+15). Lindell shot an 80 (+8) in round two. Rounding out the Pokes is senior Eric Parish, who added an 83 (+11) on Saturday to bring his total to 159 (+15).
Playing as an individual, freshman Ryan Wallen also carded a team best second-round score of 76 (+4) and now has a 150 (+6) through two rounds.
California currently owns the team lead with its two-round total of 549 (-27). Trailing California by 16 shots for second place is SMU with 565 (-11). The individual leader is Michael Weaver of Cal with a two-day total of 137 (-2).
“Today’s round will be good for us in the long run,” Jensen said. “It will wake us up a little bit. We can’t beat this experience playing with these elite teams. It’s a great opportunity for us and our program to get invited and play with this field.”
