The University of Wyoming men's golf team shot 304 (+16) in their final round on Tuesday at the Ron Moore Invitational, hosted by Denver University, and finished 16th of 17 teams. UW's three day total was 901 (+37).

Cowboy senior Jeff Franks finished a solid event by carding a final round of 70 (-2) and placing in a tie for 23rd in the field of 100. His finish was Wyoming's best of the tournament.

UW junior Ryne Paulson worked through a nagging shoulder injury and posted a good final round score of 72 (E). While playing as an individual, Cowboy freshman Max Curnow shot 76 (+4) Tuesday morning.

"Seasons like this one are frustrating," said Wyoming head coach Joe Jensen. "We got some nice rounds today from Jeff, Ryne and Max, but for us to be competitive as a team all of the guys are going to have to play well at the same time and that hasn't happened yet."

After ending 36 holes in 13th place at four-under-par, Wyoming redshirt senior Niel King had a disappointing third round score of 79 (+7) and would slip to a tie for 47th.

Wichita State won the team title by a comfortable margin with a three round total of 831 (-33). 17 strokes back was Nebraska at 848, while Kansas State and Denver tied for third place at 850.

Atop the individual leaderboard was Boise State's Troy Merritt, who scored 203 (-13). He finished two strokes ahead of DU's Jeff Koprivetz and WSU's Cameron Bishop, who tied for second at 205.

The 54-hole tournament was held at Palm Valley Golf Club, a par 72 course that measures 7,015 yards.

Wyoming's next event will be in three weeks and will be it's own, the 2007 Wyoming Cowboy Classic, presented by Cleveland Golf, April 9-10 at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. 24 college teams are scheduled to participate in the increasingly popular fifth annual event.
