LARAMIE, Wyo. -
University of Wyoming Director of Men's and Women's Golf Joe Jensen announced today that four student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to play golf for the Cowboys beginning in the 2006-07 season. Max Curnow of Liberty, Mo., Zac Fisher from Torrington, Wyo., Brandon McCoy of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Casey Ruff from Buffalo, Wyo. will join the UW squad this fall.
"There is a model of a student-athlete that I like to coach and this group of guys has those traits," said Jensen. "These are all coachable kids, who will work hard and know that they can improve and still have their best golf ahead of them. They are all regional guys who really want to be here and like what we have to offer, while being recruited by other schools. Each one has had success as a golfer, and as a group they are solid academically."
Max Curnow, 5' 9", graduated this past May from St. Pius X High School in Kansas City, Mo. As a senior he placed fifth at the state tournament, was named First Team All-Conference and also earned All-State honors. He graduated from Torrington High School in 2004 where he was runner-up at the state tournament as a senior. Zac was named All-Conference all four years of high school and All-State twice. He is the son of Jim and Marilyn Fisher and has a younger sister, Carly.
Brandon McCoy recently graduated from Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. The 5' 9" prep golfer placed ninth at the Colorado 5A High School State Tournament as a senior and had two individual event victories during the season.
