2012-13: Despite some ups and downs in the first half of the season, Richardson proved his mettle when it counted. He earned UW valuable team points with a pin in the NCAA consolation bracket, helping the Pokes finish 23rd in the nation. He went 1-2 in his NCAA debut.

Richardson earned his first NCAA bid, finishing third in the West Regional at 149 pounds. He went 1-2 at the event, defeating two opponents who previously had beaten him earlier in the season.

Richardson upset two ranked opponents during the dual season, accounting for half of his four duals wins: No. 6 Nick Lester of Oklahoma and No. 13 Josh Wilson of Utah Valley. He won 14 bouts during the season. He was third in the Cowboy Open and fourth in the Nebraska-Kearney Open.

He was recognized by the UW coaching staff for keeping a GPA above 3.0 for the season at the team banquet.

2011-12: After starting the season on a strong note, Richardson had his struggles down the stretch. He finished 18-12 with one pin, one technical fall and three major decisions. He placed in three tournaments, finishing third in the Northwest Open, second in the Cowboy Open and fifth in the Kearney Open.

Richardson appeared in four duals for the Cowboys at 149 pounds. He was 1-0 versus WWC opponents, and lost a tightly fought 8-2 decision against then No. 2-ranked Jamal Parks of Oklahoma State in a Jan. 1 dual.

2010-11: Richardson redshirted his first season in the UW program and competed in six open tournaments at 149 pounds. He went 22-7 overall with six major decisions, four technical falls and one pin. He was 1-2 against the WWC. In the classroom, he was named to the WWC Coaches' Honor Roll.

Richardson barely missed placing at his first tournament with a 4-2 mark at the Northwest Open, but claimed top-three finishes at his next four competitions. He dominated the Cowboy Open with a pin, two technical falls, major decision and a decision. Richardson went 7-1 at the Kaufman-Brand Open to claim third, before going 3-1 for second at both the UNK Loper Open and Utah Valley Open. He ended his season with a 0-2 showing at the Rocky Mountain Open.

High School: Richardson was an Idaho 4A high school state champion in 2007 as a freshman at Lakeland High School and then again as a senior at 152 pounds. He was a USA Wrestling national champion in 2008, the 4A State runner-up as a junior in 2009 and the 2008 Tri-State Champion. Brandon won his regional weight class four times.

Richardson served as Lakeland Student Council Vice President in 2007-08 and was an honor roll student each year of high school. He also played soccer for Lakeland H.S., lettering twice.

Personal: Richardson was born in Colville, Wash., and his parents are Pete and Cindy Richardson. He has one older sister, Ashton. His major at UW is kinesiology and health promotion.
