2013-14: Havlik was an early surprise for the Cowboys, seizing the starting role at 174 pounds. He began his year with a 10-0 mark with titles in both the Cowboy and Northwest Opens, and a dual victory over Boise State's Austin Dewey.

But Havlik had some struggles with consistency down the stretch, finishing the year 16-14 with six major decisions. He earned a nice win in his last dual versus Northern Colorado, posting an 11-2 major decision over Josh Van Tine.

2012-13: As a redshirt, Havlik found success immediately. He placed in all four tournaments in which he wrestled as an unattached competitor. He won 16 of his 20 matches during the season, with two pins and three major decisions. He was second in the Cowboy Open, first at the Northwest Open, fifth at the UNK Holiday Inn Open and third at the Fort Hays State University Open. He won at least three bouts in each tournament. He finished the 2013 campaign on a high note, placing sixth at FILA Junior Nationals in April, going 4-3 at 79 kilograms(174 pounds).

He was recognized by the UW coaching staff at the year-end banquet for keeping a GPA above 3.0 for the season.

High School: Havlik was a three-sport athlete at Mitchell High, and he starred in wrestling, football and baseball. A three-time state champ in wrestling, he also was a team captain of the football team and earned All-Conference honors in baseball and football. He was a National Honor Society member and earned Academic All-State honors. Havlik's three state wrestling titles set a Mitchell High School record.

Personal: Havlik was born in LeMars, Iowa, and he is the son of Bryce and Lisa Havlik. Bryce wrestled at South Dakota State. The younger Havlik has three siblings: Stratton, Austin and Briggs. He is pursuing a degree in accounting at UW. He also received interest from South Dakota State and Minnesota.
