Seven Cowboys come up big in second team win of season

2013-14: Miller had a great start to his season as a redshirt freshman, placing in his first three open tournaments. He was fourth in the Cowboy Open at 157 pounds, and was the runner-up in the Northwest Open. He placed fifth in the UNK Holiday Inn Open. Miller appeared in two duals for the Cowboys, going 1-1 with a victory over Luke McDonald of Cal Poly. He won 11 matches, with one major decision and a 1-1 mark versus Western Wrestling Conference opponents.
2012-13: Redshirting in his first season with the program, Miller split his time at 149 and 157 pounds. After an up-and-down start to the season, he won six of his last eight bouts and placed in two tournaments. He was fourth in the UNK Loper Open and won the Utah Valley Open at 157 pound with three victories. Miller went 10-10 overall with one pin and two major decisions.
He placed seventh at FILA Junior Nationals in April 2013, going 4-2 at 70 kilograms (154.25 pounds).
He was recognized by the UW coaching staff at the year-end banquet for keeping a GPA above 3.0 for the season.
High School: Miller lettered in football and wrestling for Douglas High School, and won two state titles in his junior and senior seasons. He earned the school's career takedown record, and went 38-1 his senior season en route to the crown. He was a three-time All-Conference performer and two-time All-State honoree. He earned an Academic All-Conference nod as well.
Personal: Miller was born in Phoenix, Ariz., and he is the son of Greg and Keely Miller. He has two siblings, Cody and Chance. He is pursuing a degree in elementary education at UW. He received interest from Chadron State and Dickinson State.
