Wyoming Set To Host 39th Annual Cowboy Open

Hundreds of wrestlers will descend upon Laramie for home event

2012-13: Thoman did not compete in 2012-13 for the Cowboys.

2011-12: Thoman posted an 11-8 mark in his redshirt freshman season, ending the year with three consecutive wins. He collected a first-place showing at the Utah Valley Open. He went 2-1 versus conference opponents and had two pins and two major decisions. Thoman had one of the quickest pins of the season for Wyoming in his first match, sticking Levi Nagel of Montana State-Northern in just 50 seconds in the Northwest Open.

2010-11: Thoman wrestled to an 11-6 record at 184 pounds while redshirting his first season with the Cowboy program. He had two pins and one technical fall.

Thoman opened the season with a fourth-place finish at the Northwest Open and claimed second at the Cowboy Open with a combined 6-3 mark, but did not place at the Kaufman-Brand Open. He finished his season by placing second at the UNK Loper Open.

High School: Thoman was a three-time state place winner for Green River High School at the Wyoming 4A Tournament. As a senior, Thoman was runner-up at 189 pounds. He also placed third during his junior year in the 171-pound weight class and fifth as a sophomore at 152.

Personal: Thoman is the youngest of three children of Dick and Sue Thoman. He has one brother, Ben, and two sisters, Dixie Thoman and Josette Polk. He is pursuing a degree in electrical engineering at UW.
