LARAMIE, Wyo. -

For the second time this season, senior forward Hillary Carlson was named Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Jan. 3-9. She earned the honor with Utah guard Janita Badon.

Carlson, a 6-3 senior from Cheyenne, Wyo., led the Cowgirls to a 2-0 start in Conference action. Carlson recorded her third double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds on Wednesday in an 83-43 league opening win over Colorado State in Laramie. On the road at New Mexico, Carlson scored seven straight points to put Wyoming up 12-11, after the Cowgirls fell behind 11-5 to start the game. Wyoming earned a 63-53 win in The Pit, just the second time under head coach Joe Legerski. Carlson finished the game with 21 points, five rebounds, and seven blocked shots, while shooting a season high .778 (7-9) from the field.

For the week, Carlson averaged 18.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 blocks and 2.5 assists per game. She shot .579 (11-19) from the field, including .714 (5-7) from three-point range and .833 (10-12) from the free throw line.
