Cowgirl Basketball to Host First Home MWC Game Against TCU

The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will host their first home Mountain West Conference game of the season as they will take on the TCU Lady Frogs, on Wednesday, January 13. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium.

The Cowgirls will enter the game with a 10-4 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play after suffering a 65-50 loss to San Diego State last time out. Three Cowgirls are scoring in double-figures so far led by junior Aubrey Vandiver with a team leading 14.4 points and 9.5 rebounds. She is followed by junior Hillary Carlson with 13.8 points and 2.1 blocks, while Emma Langford is adding 11.9 points and 3.4 assists.
Carlson ranks first in blocks and tenth in scoring while being ranked fifth in field goal percentage and free throw percentage in the Mountain West Conference. Vandiver ranks among the Top 15 in points, rebounds, steals, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage while Langford is 11th in assists and 15th in scoring.
The Lady Frogs are currently 12-3 overall and 2-0 in the MWC, while being ranked 22nd in the Associated Press Poll. TCU is led by Emily Carter who is averaging a team leading 13.9 points along with 3.1 rebounds. Starr Crawford is leading the way with 9.2 rebounds, while adding 10.9 points per game.
They welcome back all five starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 20-11 overall and 12-4 in the MWC a year ago. This is the 15th meeting between the two teams. TCU leads the series 8-6. The last time the two teams met was February 21, 2009 as the Lady Frogs defeated the Cowgirls 60-47 in Fort Worth. TCU is coached by Jeff Mittie who is in his 11th season with the program and his 18th overall.
