Cowgirl Basketball Seeks Second Conference Win Against Falcons

The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will look for their second straight conference win as they host the Air Force Academy Falcons. The game is set for Wednesday, January 18, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium. Live stats can be followed or audio can be found on www.wyomingathletics.com.
Wyoming enters the game 5-10 overall and 1-1 in Mountain West play after earning a 52-50 win over New Mexico on Saturday afternoon. The Cowgirls are led by Chaundra Sewell who is averaging a team high 13.4 points and 9.1 rebounds. Junior Ashley Sickles follows with 12.4 points plus 6.6 rebounds per game, while Kaitlyn Mileto is adding 9.4 points. As a team, they are shooting 299-811 (.369) from the field and 59-270 (.219) from beyond the arc.
Sickles currently ranks third in minutes played, eighth in blocked shots, ninth in rebounding and tenth in scoring. Sewell is among the Top 15 in points, rebounds, assists, blocked shots and field goal percentage, while Mileto is fourth in minutes played and 12th in three-point field goal percentage.
The Falcons enter the contest with a 5-12 mark and 0-2 in MW play. Alicia Leipprandt is averaging a team high 14.7 points, while adding 5.5 rebounds. Junior forward Dymond James is adding 12.6 points and a team leading 7.2 rebounds. They return five starters and 12 letterwinners to a team that went 9-22 overall and 3-13 in the Mountain West a year ago.
This is the 40th meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the series 37-2. The last time the two teams met was February 23, 2011 as the Cowgirls defeated the Falcons, 81-57, in Colorado Springs. Air Force is coached by Andrea Williams who is in her second year with the program.
