Wyoming Basketball Faces Tough Road Test On Saturday

The Cowgirl basketball team will be out on the road to close out the week as they face the San Diego State Aztecs, on Saturday, Jan. 19. The game is set to tip-off at 3:00 p.m. MT at Viejas Arena in San Diego. Live stats and audio can be found at www.gowyo.com.
Wyoming are currently 13-3 overall and 2-1 in MW play after a thrilling 78-71 win over Fresno State on Wednesday night. Four of five starters are averaging double-figures led by Chaundra Sewell. She is averaging 15.1 points and a league leading 10.1 rebounds. Kayla Woodward follows with 13.8 points and 6.1 rebounds while Kaitlyn Mileto is adding 12.8 points. Ashley Sickles is chipping in 12.3 points and 6.1 boards as well.
The Cowgirls are first in the league in scoring offense (73.2 ppg) and assists (15.5 aspg). They are also shooting 416-904 (.460) from the field and 110-283 (.389) from beyond the arc. Both rank first in the league. In Mountain West games, they are first in scoring offense (79.3 ppg), assists (17.3 aspg), rebounding margin (11.0) and free throw percentage (44-51, .863)
SDSU enters the weekend with an 11-5 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the MW after a 74-60 victory over UNLV on Wednesday night. They are led by Courtney Clements who is averaging a team high 17.5 points plus 5.0 rebounds. Chelsea Hopkins follows with 13.0 points and a team high 7.3 rebounds. They return four starters and nine letterwinners to a team that went 25-7 overall, 12-2 in the MW and made it to the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
This will be the 46th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 24-21. The last time the two teams met was March 9, 2012 in the second round of the MW Tournament. SDSU defeated the Cowgirls 73-55. The Aztecs are coached by Beth Burns.
