starters for this week's games:

Wyoming Guard Brenda Pickup, Fr., 5-7, Brush Prairie, Wash. Guard Shelby Hoffman, Sr., 5-9, Gillette, Wyo. Forward Christy Bacon, Jr., 6-0, Colorado Springs, Colo. Forward Jessica Gibbs, Sr., 6-1, Wells, Nev. Center Ann McColl, So., 6-2, Everett, Wash.

This Week: The Cowgirls play their first conference games on the road this week. They will face Brigham Young on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m., and then Utah on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

About Brigham Young: The Cowgirls will go on the road to face the Brigham Young Cougars on Thursday night. The Cougars are currently 8-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play. They are led by sophomore Erin Thorn, who is averaging 16.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest. Freshman forward Heather Cheesman is also chipping in 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds. The Cougars went 22-9 overall and 10-4 in the conference last season They return 12 letterwinners and four starters to this year's squad. This is the 48th meeting between the two schools, Brigham Young leads the series 34-13. The last time these two teams met was Feb. 10, 2000 in Laramie, when Birgham Young came out on top with a 70-69 victory. The Cougars are coached by Trent Shippen, who is in his fourth season.

About Utah: In the second game of the weekend, the Cowgirls will face the Utah Utes. The Utes currently have an 14-2 overall record and a 3-0 conference mark. They are led by junior Lauren Beckman, who is averaging 10.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per contest. Amy Ewert is also chipping in 9.7 points and 3.5 rebounds. The Utes went 23-8 overall and 11-3 in the conference last season They return eleven letterwinners and four starters to this year's squad. This is the 48th meeting between the two schools, Utah leads the series 41-6. The last time these two teams met was Feb. 17, 2000 in Laramie, with Utah coming out on top with a 85-66 victory. The Utes are coached by Elaine Elliot, who is in her 18th season at Utah.
