LARAMIE, Wyo. -

Senior forward Hillary Carlson was named Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season for games played from Jan. 17-23. It's the fourth time in her career she has earned the honor.

Carlson, a 6-3 senior from Cheyenne, Wyo., led the Cowgirls to a 2-0 record last week with a non-conference win over Seattle and an MWC win over Air Force. Carlson scored 20 points to go along with eight rebounds and six blocked shots against Seattle on Wednesday night in Laramie. She shot .615 (8-13) from the field and .750 from the free throw line to lead Wyoming. Each time Seattle would close the Cowgirls lead, Carlson would hit a big three-pointer or free throws to put Wyoming back into double-digit leads. On Saturday against Air Force, Carlson was just two points short of her career-high with 27. She shot .818 (9-11) from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line in just 21 minutes of action. Carlson was a key component in an 11-0 run to push the Cowgirls to their first double-digit lead in the first half.

For the week, Carlson averaged 23.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game. She shot .708 (17-24) from the field, including .667 (2-3) from three-point range, and .917 (11-12) from the free throw line. She also had an assist and two steals.
