Cowgirl Basketball Begins Two Game Homestand On Saturday

The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team returns home for the first of a two game home stretch against the Boise State Broncos. The game is set for Saturday, Jan. 28, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Live stats can be followed or audio can be found on www.wyomingathletics.com.
Wyoming is currently 6-12 overall and 2-3 in Mountain West play after suffering a 56-45 loss against San Diego State on Tuesday night. The Cowgirls are led by Chaundra Sewell who is averaging a team high 12.7 points and 8.8 rebounds. Junior Ashley Sickles follows with 12.1 points plus 6.2 rebounds per game, while freshman Kayla Woodward is chipping in 11.1 points and 5.2 rebounds. As a team, they are shooting 374-964 (.388) from the field and 82-310 (.265) from beyond the arc.
Sickles currently ranks fourth in minutes played, seventh in blocked shots, tenth in rebounding and 12th in scoring. Sewell is among the Top 15 in points, rebounds, assists, blocked shots and field goal percentage. In league games Woodward is tied for second in scoring, third in three-point field goal percentage, fourth in field goal percentage and steals plus eighth in rebounds per game.
Boise State enters the game with an 11-9 overall mark and 2-3 in the Mountain West. Theylost the UNLV Lady Rebels, 66-50, last time out. Kati Isham is averaging a team high 15.4 points along with 3.2 rebounds. Lauren Lenhardt is adding 14.7 points while Nicole Brady is averaging a team high 7.4 boards per game. They return four starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 12-17 overall and 6-10 in the Western Athletic Conference last season.
This is the eighth meeting between the two teams. Boise State leads the series 4-3. The last time the two teams met was December 31, 2009 as the Broncos defeated the Cowgirls, 73-67, in Boise. Boise State is coached by Gordy Presnell who is in his seventh season with the program.
