Cowgirl Basketball Closes Out Week Against Utah State

The Cowgirl basketball team will seek their first conference road victory on Saturday as they face the Utah State Aggies. The game will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan. The Cowgirls are 13-5 overall and 4-3 in MW action after an 11-point victory, 87-76, over Fresno State on Wednesday night. Kayla Woodward is averaging a team high 17.2 points plus 7.2 rebounds, while Fallon Lewis is adding 15.0 points and a team high 9.7 rebounds. Kaitlyn Mileto follows with 14.3 points and Marquelle Dent leads the way with 4.4 assists plus 8.7 points per game. In league games, Woodward is third in scoring (17.4 ppg) and tenth in rebounding (7.4 rpg). Mileto is currently fifth in scoring with 15.7 points per game, while Lewis leads the league in rebounding with 10.6 per game.
Wyoming is third in the league in scoring offense (73.1 ppg), scoring defense (64.8 ppg) and assists (15.5 aspg). They are also shooting 465-1113 (.418) from the field and 112-340 (.329) from beyond the arc, which are third and fourth respectively. In Mountain West games, they are third in rebounding margin, fourth in scoring offense and fifth in assists, steals and three-point field goal percentage.
Utah State enters this weekend's contest 9-10 overall and 3-5 in MW play. Last time out, the Aggies earned a 75-69 win over New Mexico. They are led by Jennifer Schlott who is averaging a league high 24.2 points plus 3.9 rebounds. Elise Nelson is adding a team high 6.7 rebounds plus 6.3 points per contest. They return three starters and six letterwinners to a team that went 18-14 overall and 14-4 in the WAC last year.
This will be 20th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 14-5. The last time the two teams met was Nov. 11, 2011 as the Aggies defeated UW, 62-56, in Laramie. Utah State is coached by Jerry Finkbeiner who is in his second year with the program.
