Cowgirl Basketball Set To Battle Colorado State In Border War

The Wyoming women's basketball team returns home after a two game road swing to host the Colorado State Rams, on Saturday, Feb. 2. The game is set to tip-off at 2:00 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium. Live stats and audio can be found at www.gowyo.com.
The Cowgirls are currently 16-4 overall and 5-2 in MW play after a 72-54 victory over the New Mexico Lobos on Wednesday night. Four of five starters are averaging double-figures led by Chaundra Sewell. She is averaging 14.6 points and a league leading 9.8 rebounds. Kayla Woodward follows with 14.6 points and 6.1 rebounds while Kaitlyn Mileto is adding 13.0 points. Senior Ashley Sickles is chipping in 10.9 points and 5.7 boards as well.
Wyoming is first in the league in scoring offense (72.4 ppg), rebounding margin (+8.8) and assists (15.5 aspg). They are also shooting 516-1144 (.451) from the field and 133-349 (.381) from beyond the arc. Both rank first in the league. In Mountain West games, they are first in scoring offense, rebounding margin and assists, second in free throw, field goal percentage and scoring defense.
The Rams are 6-13 overall and 2-4 in the MW after a 57-56 win on Wednesday night over Boise State. They are led by Sam Martin who is averaging a team high 12.2 points and 6.3 rebounds. Caitlin Duffy is adding 11.4 points followed by Kara Spotton with 6.7 points. They return three starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 13-17 overall and 9-5 in the MW a year ago.
This will be the 87th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 44-42. The last time the two teams met was February 18, 2012 as the Cowgirls defeated the Rams in overtime 66-62 in overtime. Colorado State is coached by Ryun Williams who is in his first season with the program.
