Cowgirl Basketball Wraps Up Week against Lady Rebels

The Cowgirl basketball team will play their second straight home game as they welcome the UNLV Lady Rebels, on Saturday afternoon. The contest is set for 2:00 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium. The Cowgirls are 14-6 overall and 5-4 in MW action after a four-point win, 79-75, over New Mexico on Wednesday night. Kayla Woodward is averaging a team high 17.9 points plus 7.2 rebounds, while Fallon Lewis is adding 14.9 points and a team high 9.5 rebounds. Kaitlyn Mileto follows with 13.8 points and Marquelle Dent leads the way with 4.4 assists plus 9.9 points per game. In league games, Woodward is third in scoring (19.0 ppg) and sixth in rebounding (7.3 rpg). Mileto is currently seventh in scoring with 14.3 points per game, while Lewis leads the league in rebounding with 9.8 per game.
Wyoming is third in the league in scoring offense (73.5 ppg), scoring defense (66.1 ppg) and assists (15.7 aspg). They are also shooting 517-1225 (.422) from the field and 125-375 (.333) from beyond the arc, which are third and fourth respectively. In Mountain West games, they are third in scoring offense, fourth in rebounding margin and assists, fifth in scoring defense and three-point field goal percentage.
UNLV is currently 9-13 overall and 6-4 in MW play. Last time out, they lost to Colorado State, 66-48, in Las Vegas. They are led by Alana Cesarz who is averaging 13.5 points and 5.4 rebounds. Aley Rohde is adding a team high 7.3 rebound and 6.9 points per contest. They return five starters and ten letterwinners to a team that went 12-19 overall and 8-8 in the MW last year.
This will be 39th meeting between the two schools. UNLV leads the series 20-18. The last time the two teams met was Feb. 23, 2013 as the Cowgirls defeated the Lady Rebels, 64-60, in Laramie. They are coached by Kathy Olivier who is in her sixth season with the program.
