Feb. 26, 2001
LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball player Ann McColl will be out for the rest of the season after surgery on her jaw, according to head coach Cindy Fisher.
McColl sustained the injuries on Monday, Feb. 26, after a fall at her home in Laramie. She broke her jaw and will have oral surgery this afternoon in Cheyenne.
McColl, a 6-2 center from Everett, Wash., has started in 24-25 games for the Cowgirls this season. She is currently leading the team in scoring with 12 points per contest, and second in rebounding with 6.2 per contest.
"This is another unfortunate situation for our team this season," said head coach Cindy Fisher. "But our players are strong, and will have to bounce back from this just as we have in the past."
"It's been an unfortunate string of injuries for the Cowgirl Basketball
Team this season," said Associate Athletic Director Barbara Burke. "But,
we support the players and wish Ann the best in her recovery. We also
appreciate all the support from the fans, friends and family."
