Wyoming's Gibbs Named Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Wyoming forward Jessica Gibbs was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Gibbs earned the award for the first time this season and second time in her career.
A 6-1 senior from Wells, Nev., (College of Southern Idaho), Gibbs completed the week with a 57.7 field goal percentage (15-26) and a 75 percent free throw percentage (6-8). She averaged 18 points and nine rebounds per game while helping the Cowgirls to a 1-1 record last week. Gibbs tallied her league-leading ninth double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds in a 73-59 upset of San Diego State. The MWC leader in steals with 2.85 per game, Gibbs collected a career-high five steals vs. the Aztecs and connected on 10-of-15 field goals (66.7 percent). In a 72-69 loss to UNLV Thursday, Gibbs totaled 15 points and seven rebounds.
For the season, Gibbs ranks second in the MWC for rebounding at 8.1 per game, seventh in field goal percentage at 49.2 percent and ninth in scoring at 11.7 points per game.
