For the first time in her career, junior Ashley Elliott was named First Team All-Mountain West Conference after earning Honorable Mention All-MWC a year ago, while senior guard Brenda Pickup is a Third Team All-Conference selection and Co-Defensive Player of the Year. First year head coach Joe Legerski was also named Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year.

Elliott, who leads the Cowgirls in several categories including scoring, has scored in double-figures in 19 games this season. She ranks second in the MWC in scoring, fourth in free throw percentage, fifth in steals, seventh in assists, eighth in three-point field goal percentage and 17th in rebounding. She moved into third place all-time in school history with 136 three-point field goals made and fourth with 391 three-point field goal attempts.

Pickup is a first time All-MWC selection, while also picking up Defensive Player of the Year honors. She currently leads the team in both assists and steals, along with ranking second in scoring. In the MWC, Pickup is first in steals, second in assists, fifth in free throw percentage and 20th in scoring. This season, she moved into second place in steals in school history with 205 and third in assists with 384.

Legerski, who is in his first year with the Cowgirls, has led the team to a 10-17 overall record and a 6-8 mark in the conference.

The No. 5-seed Cowgirls will open up the MWC Tournament against the fourth seeded Colorado State Rams at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo.
