May 3, 2005
LARAMIE, Wyo. -
University of Wyoming Cowgirl head basketball coach Joe Legerski today announced the signing of a student-athlete to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wyoming beginning in the fall of 2005.
Here is the signee:
Elisabeth Dissen, 6-2, Forward/Center, Hillsboro, Oregon (Glencoe HS):
A two-time First Team All-State and All-Metro Conference selection during her career at Glencoe High School. A three-year starter, she averaged 14.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game this past season. Also, led her team to a 16-10 overall record and a 13-5 in the Class 4A Oregon Metro League as the team advanced to the second round of the Oregon State playoffs. Dissen just recently played on the Oregon high school all-star team against the Washington all-stars in the Northwest Shoot-out in Portland. She was coached in high school in Mike Melin. Also lettered in volleyball and track and field during high school. Dissen selected Wyoming over several schools, including Montana State, San Diego State, San Jose State and Boise State.
"Elisabeth brings a strong block presence to our program," said head coach Joe Legerski. "She plays well with her back to the basket. We have been looking to improve our inside game, and with the signing of Elisabeth, we have taken a step forward in that direction. She also has great hands along with a competitiveness to succeed."
Dissen is the fourth student-athlete to sign a letter of intent by the Cowgirls season as they signed three during the early signing period. The other signees include Alysia Kraft (5-6, Guard, Encampment, Wyo.); Megan McGuffey (5-11, Guard, Cheyenne, Wyo.) and Rebecca Vanderjagt (6-3, Center, Townsville, Australia).
