Cowgirl Basketball Fills Remaining Scholarship

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming Cowgirl head basketball coach Cindy Fisher today announced the signing of a student-athlete to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wyoming beginning in the fall of 2002. Here is the signee:

Lorissa Ewing, 6-2, Power Forward, Stockton, Calif.:
An Honorable Mention All-Area selection as a senior at St. Mary's High School in Stockton, Calif. She was a member of the California Division II State Championship Team that went 33-3 overall this past season. Her team finished the season ranked 42nd in the country. While at St. Mary's, she also lettered in volleyball and track and field. Ewing was coached by Tom Consalves. Prior to that, she spent three years at Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix, Ariz. and was a teammate of current Cowgirl Kelly McRee. Recruited by Cal State-Northridge and San Jose State, among others.

"Lorissa is going to be a great asset to the University of Wyoming and the women's basketball program," said head coach Cindy Fisher. "Her size, strength and athletic ability will help bring depth to our post game. I'm also excited about the opportunities she has to be an impact player in the Mountain West Conference."
