Fisher Hires New Coach

University of Wyoming head women's basketball coach Cindy Fisher, Monday, announced hiring of Lisa Robinson as an Associate Head Coach. Her hiring is subject to UW Board of Trustee approval.

Robinson joins the Cowgirl coaching staff after spending the last two seasons as the head women's basketball coach at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

Robinson began her college career as a student-athlete at the University of Illinois in Champaign. She was a four-year letterwinner for the Fighting Illini in basketball. While at Illinois, she was also a two-time Kodak Honorable Mention All-American in 1980 and 1981, and a Kodak Region Five All-America First Team selection in 1982. A First Team GTE Academic All-American in 1982, she graduated from Illinois with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education in 1983. She completed her master's degree in Special Education from Illinois State (Normal) in 2000.

Robinson began her professional coaching career at Illinois State as an assistant coach in 1983 until 1995. She was elevated to Associate Head Coach in 1995 and held that position until 1998. While at Illinois State, she coordinated the recruiting effort, as well as analyzed and prepared scouting reports.

In 1998, Robinson was hired as the head coach at Normal Community High School. From 1999 through this season, she had been the head coach at Augustana College.

In addition to her coaching duties, Robinson has been very active in public and community service in the basketball world. She has been a counselor and active speaker for several basketball camps, clinics and community functions.

"Lisa is a great addition to our staff," said head coach Cindy Fisher. "Her basketball knowledge and recruiting experience will be a huge asset not only to our basketball program, but also the University of Wyoming."
