LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball Team and Head Coach Cindy Fisher will officially open up practice for the upcoming season on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The Cowgirls will have their first practice on Saturday morning from 8-11 a.m., and then Saturday night from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Both practices will take place in the Arena Auditorium, and are open to the public.

"I am really looking forward to practice starting," said coach Fisher. "Unlike last year, when we had so many new faces, we have a lot of returning players who have put in a great summer and pre-season. This group is incredibly committed and excited to get going. I am also happy with where we are mentally and physically going into Saturday, and look forward to great things from this group."

Wyoming returns three starters and eight letterwinners from last year's team that went 10-18 overall and 4-10 in the conference. They also welcome four newcomers to this year's squad.

The 2000-01 season will open up with two exhibition games on Nov. 9 and 13 against Northern Colorado and Metro State, and the regular season on Nov. 18 at home against Chadron State. The Cowgirls schedule includes six home non-conference games and seven conference match-ups.
