Cowgirl Basketball To Play Road Game Before Christmas Break

The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will play their final game before the Christmas break on the road tonight. They will try to avenge an early season loss against the Gonzaga Bulldogs in Spokane beginning at 7 p.m. Mountain Time.
The Cowgirls will enter this game with a 6-4 overall record after a tough 74-59 home loss against Saint Louis on Saturday night. Three Cowgirls are scoring in double-figures so far led by freshman Emma Langford with 14.4 points per game. She is followed by guard Kristen Scheffler with 11.1 points and Megan McGuffey with 11.0 points. McGuffey also leads the way with 6.9 rebounds per contest.
Langford, who currently leads the team in points, assists, steals and minutes played, ranks in the Top 10 in each of those categories in the Mountain West Conference. Scheffler leads the league in three-point field goals made (3.0 tpfgm), while being ranked tenth in percentage (30-72, .417) and 17th in scoring. McGuffey is eighth in rebounding, 12th in assists and 18th in scoring as well.
The Bulldogs come in to the game with a 10-3 record overall after earning a 69-63 victory over the Montana Lady Griz last time out.
Heather Bowman leads the way for the Bulldogs with 19.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, while Courtney Vandersloot is adding 16.8 points and 4.3 rebounds. They return four starters and nine letterwinners to a team that went 25-9 overall and 13-1 in the West Coast Conference a year ago. This is the third meeting between the two teams and the second time this season. The series is tied at one game apiece. The last time the two teams met was November 23, 2008 as the Bulldogs defeated the Cowgirls 68-58 in Laramie. Gonzaga is coached by Kelly Graves who is in his ninth season with the program.
