Cowgirl Golf at Oregon Duck Invitational

The University of Wyoming women's golf team was in Junction City, Ore., on Monday for the initial 36 holes of the Oregon Duck Invitational. After two completed rounds the Cowgirls find themselves in 17th place, with a score of 676 (+100). The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday morning.
After cool and wet weather kept scores high in Round One, Wyoming freshman Laura Mengelkamp came back with a score of 74 (+2) in the second round, forging a tie for 22nd place with five other golfers in the field of 88. Mengelkamp has a total score of 154 (+10).
University of Oregon is currently tied for the team lead in their own tournament with Washington State University, both scoring 600 (+24), six strokes ahead in the 17-team field. The Cougars' Kim Welch is making a run at winning the individual title at this tournament for the fourth consecutive year. She is in first place by one stroke with a score of 143 (-1), just ahead of the Ducks' Kimberly McCready and Fresno State's Laura Luethke.
The 54-hole, two-day tournament is being played at the Shadow Hills Country Club. Shadow Hills plays to a par of 72 and measures 6,103 yards.
