High winds sent team scores skyward on Tuesday during the final round of the Heather Farr/CU Memorial Invitational in Broomfield, Colo. The University of Wyoming Cowgirl golf team scored 322 (+34), totaled 950 (+86) and tied with Colorado State for 13th place of 17 schools.

Wyoming's finish was a 28 stroke improvement over last season when 325 (+37) was their best team round and they totaled 978. UW fired a round of 307 (+19) during the first 18 holes on Monday.

With the exception of Hawai'i, every team in the field shot their highest team score of the tournament Tuesday morning.

"In a tough field with tough playing conditions today, I was proud of the way we played overall," said Cowgirl head coach Josey Stender. "By making a dramatic improvement to our score over last season we showed the other teams here how much better we've gotten. It's a matter of persevering for us and we're taking it one step at a time."

UW's best event finish came from junior Laura Mengelkamp who tied for 20th place of 91 golfers. Wyoming's best round of the day was turned in by freshman Jonelle Martinez who shot 78 (+6).

Playing as an individual, UW junior Kaelee Aegerter concluded her career best collegiate tournament with a round of 79 (+7). Aegerter's total of 239 (+23) earned the Laramie, Wyo. native a tie for 51st place.

Denver took their second straight team title with a score of 900 (+36), as the Pioneers edged out Idaho (904) and San Jose State (907). Hawaii's Dale Gammi won individual medalist honors by five strokes at 214 (-2).

The 54-hole tournament was played at the Omni Interlocken Resort, par 72 and measuring 6,280 yards.

The Cowgirls will next play at the Bronco Fall Invitational in Boise, Idaho, Oct. 9-10.
