LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming Cowgirl golf team shot its lowest round of the 2002 fall season on Tuesday and vaulted four spots from 11th to seventh place at the Boise State Bronco Fall Classic.

The round of 20-over par 308 by Wyoming in Tuesday's round was the fifth lowest round in the field of 16 teams. The outstanding round helped lift Wyoming past four teams Eastern Washington, Montana State, Montana and Weber State. The Cowgirls concluded the 36-hole event with a final team score of 631, 55-over par. Nevada won the team title with a two-round total of 24-over par 600. Alana Condon of Nevada captured the individual title with an even-par total of 144.

Three Cowgirls led the way for UW. Senior Kim Nissen shot a season low 75, moving her up from 33rd place entering Tuesday's final round to a tie for 17th place. Fellow senior Alison McGuire also shot a personal low round for the fall season with a 77. She tied for 20th place. Freshman Bailey Adcock posted a key round of 77, a personal best round for her young career, and finished in a tie for 27th. The fourth Cowgirl to post a personal best for the fall season was sophomore Shala Hanson, who shot a 79.

"This was the kind of day we were hoping for," said UW women's golf coach Jill Rettinger. "We got four strong individual scores all on the same day, and that allowed us to make a big move in the final team standings. To have four players all shoot season best rounds on the same day really is encouraging. It was truly a team effort.

"This tournament will give us a lot of confidence as we head into our final fall tournament in Las Vegas in November."

The Boise State Bronco Fall Classic was played at the Falcon Crest Golf Course in Kuna, Idaho. The course measured 6,044 yards and played to a par of 72.

Wyoming will conclude it's fall season on Nov. 11-13 at the UNLV Intercollegiate in Las Vegas, Nev.
