LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming head women’s golf coach Josey Stender announced the signing of Amanda Hinchey of Casper, Wyo., on Wednesday. Hinchey will be the third addition to the Cowgirls program for the 2014-15 season.

“The players we have signed are arguably some of the top players in their respective states, if not the West region,” Stender said. “Their national playing experience and competitive passion for the game will be a terrific addition to the solid foundation for next year.”

Hinchey joins the Cowgirls as a six-time letterwinner at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, Wyo. She had an outstanding prep career under head coach Craig Marsh. Hinchey won the Wyoming state individual championship in 2012. She was also a two-time All-State selection and an All-Conference honoree three times. She was the conference individual championship this past fall and led her team to back-to-back conference team titles in 2012 and 2013.

She also excels in the classroom as a member of National Honor Society. Hinchey earned the Scholastic Achievement Award three times. At Kelly Walsh High School she was a member of the Student Council.

Her brother Austin Hinchey just finished his freshman season as a golfer at Texas Pan-American.

“She is a great young lady who comes from a fantastic family with deep tradition in the University and the state,” Stender said. “Amanda has excelled in the classroom, the golf course and been a tremendous leader among the Wyoming junior golf community, which will help her with the transition to the collegiate game.”

Hinchey joins Klara Castillo of Albuquerque, N.M., and Sarah Hankins of Thornton, Colo., as new additions to the Cowgirls in 2014-15.
