Cowgirl Soccer Showing Signs of Promise in 2013

UW performing well in spring ball winning four straight with no goals allowed

Evans, a native of Gillette, Wyo., joined the Cowgirls in 2012 after spending eight successful seasons as the women's soccer head coach at the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. During his eight seasons, he helped lead the Marauders in the transition from an NAIA school to the NCAA Division II level. Throughout his eight seasons, he led U-Mary to an 86-64-18 overall record.

In 2011, Evans led the Marauders to an 11-8-1 overall record and a 7-5-1 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). He led the 2010 U-Mary squad to an 8-7-5 record. The 2009 Marauders finished the season with a 9-8-4 record. His 2008 U-Mary team won 11 games on its way to a 11-10-1 overall record and a semifinal berth in the NSIC tournament.

The University of Mary soccer program was granted full membership in NCAA Division II in 2007 and was quick to make its mark. Evans led the 2007 Marauders to a 16-7 overall record and a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament Championship. The NSIC Championship earned U-Mary a berth in the NCAA Regional Tournament in its first year of NCAA eligibility.

Evans became the head coach of the Marauders in 2004 as they began to make the transition to NCAA Division II from NAIA. Evans led the 2004 Marauders to a 15-7-1 overall mark and their third-consecutive trip to the NAIA National Tournament. His first season in 2004, he earned Region III Coach of the Year as voted on by his peers. The following two seasons of 2005 and 2006, Evans led U-Mary to a combined record of 17-17-5 in its first two transition years in the NCAA. In 2006, their first season in the NSIC, they won the conference tournament championship, but were unable to advance to the postseason because of NCAA transition rules.

Throughout Evans tenure at U-Mary, he coached numerous student-athletes to athletic and academic honors. On the national level, he coached one Third Team NCAA All-American and 21 NCAA All-Region honorees. His players also earned numerous NSIC awards including two tournament MVPs, 10 all-tournament performers, 27 all-conference players, seven Players of the Week and 61 all-academic honorees.

He played collegiately at the University of Mary from 1996-2000, earning NAIA Honorable Mention All-America honors and his team's most valuable player award. He began coaching soccer at U-Mary in 2000 as an assistant women's coach.

Evans has a United States Soccer Federation "A" License, USSF "Y" License and a Premier Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He also earned a USSF National Goalkeeping license.

Evans earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Mary in 2001 and earned his master's in management and business administration from U-Mary in 2007.
