Christine Nagel scored her first goal of the season and notched her second assist of the year as the Wyoming Cowgirl soccer team beat the Broncos of Boise State 2-1, finishing the weekend 2-0 at the Nevada Tournament in Reno Nev. on Sunday. The Cowgirls improve their record to 3-4-1 while the Broncos fall to 4-3-0.

"Nagel played a great game today," Wyoming head coach Anne Moore said. "She was turning balls and taking good shots."

Neither team had a clear advantage through the first half, but the Cowgirls gained the momentum in the second half as Nagel scored her first goal of the season :18 seconds into the period off a mishandled ball by the Bronco defense.

Wyoming extended their 1-0 lead as freshman Kerstyn Etheridge scored the first goal of her career in the 74th minute by blasting one past Bronco keeper Michaela Morrison on a pass from Christine Nagel.

With a 2-0 lead, the Cowgirls continued to play good defense until the 88th minute when Boise State's junior midfielder Erin Wofford scored off of a rebounded shot by senior Nicole Coleman.

"It got kind of scary at the end, but we managed to play well and come out with our second win of the weekend," Moore said. "We were a little beat up from Friday's game, but the defense held strong and Amanda Lathrop played great in the middle for us," Moore continued.

The Cowgirls return home as they take on the Bengals from Idaho State Sunday, September 24, at 12 p.m. (Mountain Time).
