Cowgirls Blanked by Portland State

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

A defensive battle between Portland State and Wyoming turned into an upset as the Vikings scored a goal in the second half to defeat the Cowgirls, 1-0 on Friday at Tigard Soccer Complex.

A goal by Portland State sophomore, Julie Forrest, fifteen minutes into the second half lifted the Vikings over the Cowgirls. It was her sixth goal of the season, a Portland State 2002 season team high.

UW goalkeeper, Lori Scheider had six saves during the game. The Viking defense tripped up the Cowgirls allowing only six shots, while Portland State had 21.

The all-time series between the two teams is now tied at 1-1-0. The Cowgirls go on to take on the University of Denver Pioneers on Wed., Oct. 2 at 4:00 p.m in Denver, Colo.
