Laramie, Wyo. - The University of Wyoming Cowgirls soccer team captured its first conference win of the season with a 1-0 victory over the UNLV Rebels. The Cowgirls improved their overall record to 6-6 and their conference record to 1-0 with the win on Friday.

The winning score of the game for the Cowgirls came from Sarah Skinner, a junior from Sedalice Colo. The goal came in the 50th minute on an unassisted free kick.

"Sarah had a great shot that made the difference in today's game," said UW head coach Anne Moore.

Senior Lori Scheider from Littleton Colo. moved into second place on the all-time saves list at Wyoming with seven saves in the game adding to here career number of 277.

This was the Cowgirls first conference win since they had defeated Air Force 1-0 on Nov. 2, 2001. The Cowgirls had never beaten the Rebels since they first began playing each other in 1998. "Every year it is an extremely tight game against UNLV, but this year we pulled it out," said Moore

The Cowgirls return to action as they host the San Diego State Aztecs Sunday afternoon. Gametime is set for 1 p.m. at the UW Soccer Stadium.
