Cowgirls Shutout by Falcons 3-0 to End Regular Season

In the final game of the regular season, the Cowgirl soccer team was shutout by Mountain West Conference competitor Air Force Academy, 3-0, on Sunday at Cadet Soccer Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Despite being out shot in the first half 13-15, the Cowgirls matched up fairly evenly against the Falcons. However, Air Force jumped ahead early in the game scoring their first goal at the 3:48 mark in the game when senior Wendy Emminger scored a slow moving unassisted goal past UW junior goalkeeper Lori Scheider. Both teams were otherwise shut out in the half in the defensive battle.
Air Force began the second half aggressively making their second goal only four minutes into the half. Sophomore Jennifer Rowland scored off an assist from senior Mary Cholko to lift the Falcons up by two. The Cowgirls had ten shots in the half, however were unable to get on the scoreboard. The final goal for the Falcons came late in the 67th minute of the game when freshman Raegan McDowell scored an unassisted goal to finalize the game at 3-0.
Both goalkeepers had five saves on the game. The shutout marks the third for Falcon junior goalkeeper J.J. Wolf this season.
The Cowgirls wrap up their regular season with a 4-12-2 record (0-6-0
Mountain West Conference). The Falcons are now 7-11-0 (2-4-0 MWC). Wyoming
now will travel to Provo, Utah, Nov. 6-9 to compete in the MWC Tournament.
