The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccer team begins its 2013 season on Tuesday with its first preseason practices. Second year head coach Pete Cuadrado will lead his Cowgirls with two-a-day practices for the next two weeks as they prepare for their first game of the year against TCU on Friday, Aug. 23.

"I think it's the most exciting time of the year," said Cuadrado. "It's exciting to finally have everyone get at it after having three months off and being away from each other."

Wyoming soccer welcomes back 15 players from a season ago, including seven starters from a squad that went 8-8-2. The Cowgirls also add 10 newcomers to this year's squad with nine freshmen and one transfer. UW returns three All-MW performers in Lucie McDowell, Liz O'Reilly and Sara Paul. O'Reilly and Paul were named first team all-conference, while McDowell was named second team.

"With those coming in and beginning and the returners back, especially after a successful spring, we all just want to get out there and start playing," added Cuadrado.

Wyoming will begin their 2013 campaign at the Montana Kickoff Invitational in Missoula, Mont. On Aug. 23 at 2 p.m., the Cowgirls play TCU and on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. against the University of Montana. The first home game at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex will be held on Friday, Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. against South Dakota.
