Wyoming Cowgirl Soccer Opens Up Pre-Fall Practices

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccer team will open up with their first practice of the 2002 pre-season on Thursday, August 15 at 3:00 p.m., at the UW Soccer Stadium. Fourth year head coach Anne Moore welcomes back eight starters and 14 letterwinners from last year's squad.

"We are extremely excited to be starting our fall training," said head coach Anne Moore. "It's what we plan and look forward to all year. We implemented a new system in the spring and are anxious to see how the new and returning players will respond to it in a competitive environment."

The Cowgirls' first practice will open up with an intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. They will run two-a-day practices (10:15-noon and 3:30-5:30) for the remainder of the pre-season. All practices are open.

The Cowgirls' will open up the 2002 soccer season by hosting an exhibition game at the UW Soccer Stadium, on Saturday August 24 at 1:00 p.m., against Northern Colorado in Laramie. They will open the regular season on the road at the Ohana Hotels and Resorts Tournament, with games against Alabama-Birmingham and Hawai'i, in Honolulu. In all the Cowgirls will host ten regular season contests.
