University of Wyoming Sports To Resume Play This Weekend

The University of Wyoming Athletic Department announced today a decision on the scheduled events for its athletic teams during the upcoming week.
The Cowgirl Volleyball Team will host the University of San Diego on Friday night and Saint Mary's College (CA.) on Saturday night. Both matches will be played in the MultiPurpose Gym. Also, the Colorado State match, originally scheduled for Sept 19, will now be played on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
The Cowgirl Soccer Team will travel to Utah this weekend, as they will face Weber State and Utah State. The rescheduling of the Creighton game will come at a later date.
The men's golf team will be at the Tucker Invitational, Sept. 21-22, in Albuquerque, N.M, while the women's golf team will play next week at the Denver Fall Invitational, Sept. 24-25.
The Cowgirl Tennis Team will open up their fall season play in Wilmington, N.C. at the UNC-Wilmington Invite.
The men's or women's cross country teams were scheduled to participate in a meet at the University of New Mexico, but neither will participate. A decision on the remainder of their seasons will be announced at a later date.
The University of Wyoming Athletic teams have also chosen an emblem to honor the eight members of the UW men's cross country and track teams who died in a tragic car accident on Sunday morning, Sept. 16, 2001.
The emblem (shown above) will be worn on the uniforms of each of the UW Athletic teams, and will also be displayed on banners that will hang in each of the Cowboy and Cowgirl Athletic facilities.
The eight members of the Wyoming men's cross country and track teams who died on Sept. 16 were: Cody Brown of Hudson, Colo., Kyle Johnson of Riverton, Wyo., Josh Jones of Salem, Ore., Justin Lambert-Belanger of Timmins, Ontario, Morgan McLeland of Gillette, Wyo., Kevin Salverson of Cheyenne,Wyo., Nick Schabron of Laramie, Wyo., and Shane Shatto of Douglas, Wyo.
