Cowgirl Soccer to Take On San Diego State at the MWC Championships

The Wyoming Cowgirl Soccer team will be traveling to San Diego, Calif., on Wednesday to take on the San Diego State Aztecs in the first round of the Mountain West Conference Soccer Championships.
UW is the No. 6 seed in the tournament and SDSU is the No. 3 seed.
The Cowgirls and the Aztecs played each other on Oct. 16, with UW falling to SDSU 2-0. In their first meeting, the Cowgirls out shot the Aztecs 13-11 and put six shots on goal.
Wyoming has out shot its opponents on the season 263-238, while putting 131 of those shots on goal. The Cowgirls have not been defeated in three games, with their last loss coming against the Aztecs. The Cowgirls are 0-10 all-time in MWC Championship games and 0-12 overall in postseason tournament games. Wyoming's last MWC Championship appearance came a season ago as it was defeated by the New Mexico Lobos, 1-0.
The Aztecs defeated the UNLV Rebels 2-0 in their final regular season game on Friday in San Diego. SDSU has taken 233 shots, the same number as its opponents. The Aztecs also have allowed one more goal at 20 than they have scored at 19 on the season. The Aztecs are led in scoring by Michaela DeJesus with four goals, five assists and 13 total points on the season. SDSU finished the season in third place in the MWC with a 7-9-3 overall record and a 5-2-0 record in the MWC.
