Cowgirl Tennis Wins Second Match in a Row

The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team followed up their win from Friday with a 5-2 victory over the Wichita State Shockers on Saturday morning in Lincoln, Neb. With the win, the Cowgirls move to 2-1 on the spring season while the Shockers dropped to 1-3 overall.
Wyoming took the doubles point as the Cowgirls swept all three matches. The No. 1 team of Jennifer Hancock and Yuliani Santi defeated Wendi Webster and Natalia Guzman, 8-4. At the No. 2 spot Amy Senko and Karolina Rowinski earned an 8-6 victory over Ana Exeni and Jackie Richey, 8-6, while the team of Patricia Chien and Gwen Moser closed it out with an 8-6 win over Marisa Simmons and Courtenay Donelly.
Singles play was also dominated by Wyoming led by sophomore Patricia Chien in the No. 1 spot with her three set victory, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0, over Ana Exeni. Jennifer Hancock was victorious in her match against Natalia Guzman, 6-0, 2-6, 6-4, at the No. 3 slot, while Yuliani Santi battled Marisa Simmons to come away with a two set win, 7-6, 6-3. The Cowgirls closed out singles play with freshman Andrea House defeating Jackie Richey, 6-4, 6-1. Two Cowgirls fell short in their singles matches. Karolina Rowinski lost 6-1, 6-3 to Wendi Webster and Amy Senko fell to Genevieve Spink in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
The Cowgirls will close out the weekend with a match against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m.
