Cowgirl Tennis Falls to UTEP

The University of Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team fell to UTEP in dual action, Friday afternoon at the El Paso Tennis Club in El Paso, Texas.
The Cowgirls (2-2 overall) won just one singles match and one doubles match as they fell to UTEP by a score of 1-6.
Junior Patricia Chien picked up the lone singles victory of the day for the Cowgirls as she came from behind to defeat UTEP's Kendall Exelby by a score of 0-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles spot. In No. 2 singles, UTEP's Téa Spirta defeated sophomore Karolina Rowinski in three sets, 1-6, 6-2, 6-0. The No. 3 match proved to be the closest of the day as freshman Corina Lazar fell to Miner Weronika Bloczynska in a third set tie-breaker 10-6. The final score was 6-4, 4-6, (10-6). Sophomore Andrea House lost in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) to UTEP's Danielle King in the No. 4 match. In No. 5 action, sophomore Amy Senko lost to Katherine Palider in straight sets (6-1, 6-4). Freshman Michelle Brown dropped the No. 6 match of the day (6-3, 6-1) to Miner Samantha Attard.
UTEP claimed the doubles point winning two of three doubles matches on the day. Chien and Rowinski beat the UTEP duo of Palider and Attard by a score of 8-3, earning the lone doubles victory for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls will return to the courts tomorrow as they travel to Las Cruces, N.M. to take on New Mexico State. The first match of the day is set to begin at 10 a.m. The Cowgirls will also take on UT-San Antonio on Sunday in El Paso on this road trip.
