Cowgirls Shut Out Roadrunners, 7-0

The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team continued their spring season with a 7-0 victory against the Metro State Roadrunners on a nuetral court, Sunday afternoon, in Colorado Springs.
Wyoming earned the team point in doubles play with all three victories. In the number one spot, Rebecca Berger and Jamie Nelson beat Miriam Evangelista and April Hirad, 8-1. Carolina Chaix and Kori Nochbaur then defeated Mitra Hirad and Alexis Alvarez, 8-1. Wyoming's No. 3 team won by default.
The Cowgirls swept singles play starting with a big win for Sarah Summerfield who defeated Mitra Hirad, 6-0, 6-1. Rebecca Berger then earned a two set victory, 6-1, 6-1, over April Hirad. In the number three spot, Carly Van Hollen won 6-1, 6-0 against Miriam Evangelista. Jamie Nelson prevailed over Alexis Alvarez, 6-0, 6-1. Chaix beat Kathleen Thompson, 6-1, 6-1. Walk-on Kori Nochbaur won by default at the six-spot.
The Cowgirls will finish up in Colorado Springs on Monday, March 2 against UNC Greensboro. The match is set to begin at 8:00 a.m.
