Cowgirl Tennis Ends Skid With Win Over Bethune Cookman

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team came back strong with a 5-2 win over Bethune Cookman College, on Tuesday afternoon, in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Cowgirls improve to 6-5 overall, while the Wildcats drop to 1-2 overall.
In doubles play, the Cowgirls came up short as they fell in two out of the three matches. The number three team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser earned a decisive 8-0 victory over Shaunda Gaiter and Sheliza Buola. The number one team of Corina Lazar and Amy Senko fell to Olga Ruislova and Tina Strussova, 8-6 as did Karolina Rowinski and Patricia Chien against Lucia Polakova and Valerie Kendrick, 8-3, at the No. 2 spot.
Singles play was dominated by the Cowgirls as they took five of six matches led by Corina Lazar as she defeated Tina Strussova, 6-4, 7-5. Junior Patricia Chien had an easy time, 6-3, 6-4, against Olga Ruislova at the number one spot. Andrea House won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, against Valerie Kendrick, while Amy Senko had a solid 6-0, 6-2 win over Shaunda Gaiter. Michelle Brown closed things out for the Cowgirls with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sheliza Buola. Karolina Rowinski unfortunately lost her two set match, 6-3, 6-4 against Lucia Polakova.
Wyoming wraps up the road trip tomorrow morning as they take on Colgate at 7:00 a.m. MT in Daytona Beach.
