Cowgirl Tennis Opens Conference Play With Loss

The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team started off the MWC season with a 5-2 loss to the Utah Utes on Friday afternoon in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Cowgirls are now 7-6 overall and 0-1 in the MWC.
In doubles play, the Utes earned the point by winning all three matches. The number one team of Corina Lazar and Amy Senko fell to Liz Ferris and Allison Hanson, 8-5. Utah's Emily Kwok and Whitney Eber ousted Karolina Rowinski and Patricia Chien, 8-3, at the No. 2 spot, while the team of Andrea House and Gwen Moser came up short against Cheyenne Reveche and Cinthia Saucedo, 8-6.
The Cowgirls also fell short as Utah took four of the six singles matches led by Liz Ferris with a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Patricia Chien. Freshman Corina Lazar battled until the end but was defeated 6-0, 7-6 (3) by Emily Kwok, while Kim Romero fell short 6-1, 6-1 against Cheyenne Reveche. The Utes wrapped things up as Allison Hanson defeated Andrea House, 6-1, 6-4. Two Cowgirls did come away with victories as Karolina Rowinksi won 6-3, 7-5 (3) over Whitney Eber and Amy Senko defeated Cinthia Saucedo 6-4, 5-7, def.
